1934, Saint-Exupéry joins Air France

Published on - July 29th, 2015 — La saga

On 29 July, filmmaker Mark Osborne is bringing out a new variation on the Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's famous book, who was also one of the airline's most famous members of staff.

At the end of 1933, the hero of the Latécoère and Aéropostale routes escaped the worst, in an accident with the Laté 293 he was piloting for Latécoère. His piloting days appeared to be over; he was hired by Air France that year as an itinerant speaker as well as working as a journalist for other periodicals. But he hadn't had enough ... and was always short of money.
He didn't publish anything between Night Flight (Prix Femina 1931) and Terre des hommes (Grand Prize from the l'Académie française in 1939), "Saint-Ex" moved around (Courrier Sud, 1936), played the reporter, from Moscow to Spain and finally landed at Air France in 1934.

Following the "propaganda" of the communications department at the time, he roamed the planet on study missions, conferences and shootings. And took part as a passenger in great adventures, such as the Atlantic crossing in 1939. Intense years, during which he accumulated material for his next great works.
Including The Little Prince, released in 1943. It is, to date, the most sold work of literature in the world and the most translated after the Bible.
